Questions: -
Q1. Who should attend our courses? Anyone who drives on the public highway or in a public place as part of his or her job. Employers should be aware of their obligations under the 'duty of care' and 'Managing Occupational Road Risk' legislation to undertake risk assessments and provide training as necessary. Employers should therefore be conducting assessments and arranging the requisite training courses a matter of course in order to minimise the risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.
Q2. Are there any qualifications required to attend? Delegates must be medically fit to drive and hold an appropriate full license to drive the vehicle in which they will be receiving instruction (and appropriate insurance cover of course). A minimum of 6 months driving experience is desirable, but not essential for Advanced training.
Q3. What preparation is required? A pre-course booklet may be supplied to some delegates, and it is always helpful if drivers can take a little time to refresh their knowledge of The Highway Code, including the latest traffic signs. A list of other useful titles and recommended reading is available on request.
Q4. Is there any recognition of attendance? Yes, delegates who complete courses normally receive a certificate to acknowledge their achievement. Additionally an Aide-Memoir booklet is issued for most courses to help with practising the skills learnt and developing them further.
Q5. Where are courses normally held? Courses are usually run from a site made available by or agreed with the employer. For individuals, we will normally suggest suitable locations and facilities according to circumstances and the nature of the course required.
Q6. Do your courses include a ‘classroom’ session?
Courses are tailored to the needs of the client and often include a short presentation by way of introduction and an interactive learning session in a classroom environment. However, whilst certain courses demand a classroom based approach, we believe in keeping our delegates engaged with the learning process and find that practical hands-on activity is often the best way of achieving this goal.
Q7. What vehicles are normally used? The delegate's regular vehicle is best, or where a number of delegates from the same company are involved, a type of vehicle from the fleet with which they are all reasonably familiar. Individuals would also normally use their own vehicle with which they are familiar, subject to it being of an appropriate type and being fully roadworthy with the requisite insurance, road tax and MOT where necessary.
Q8. Do you give lessons for L-drivers? No, but we can generally arrange tuition with one of our strategic partners.
Q9. Do you offer Pass-Plus courses for new drivers? No, but we can generally arrange tuition with one of our strategic partners.
Q10. Do you give lessons for the LGV tests? Whilst we specialise in improving the skills of drivers within the scope of their existing licence, we can now offer license acquisition training as part of our ever expanding range of services. Training conducted within the scope of an existing license may of course be used as part of the preparation for an additional license.
Q11. Do you run courses for individuals wishing to obtain an 'Advanced' qualification? Yes, individuals are very welcome, and as is our normal practice for commercial clients, courses will be tailored to individuals requirements based on their current standard.
Q12. Do you run courses for existing drivers who lack confidence or wish to refresh their skills to tackle certain situations and types of road? Yes, we offer such courses as Motorway Driving, City Driving and Manoeuvring. Just contact us for information and advice relating to your specific needs.
Q13. What does your Fleet Management service include? This will depend on your requirements, the nature of your business, the type of vehicles, the location(s) you have, etc. We will work with you to define the most appropriate level of service and responsibility to fit your requirements and budget.
Q14. Do you issue gift vouchers which can be given as presents or incentives? Yes, please contact us with details of your requirements.
