Training Standards
We use the principles and practices contained in 'Roadcraft' (the essential police driver's manual) as the basis for our driver training.  It is also the basis for the two main Advanced driving tests available to the public in the UK.

The System of Car Control and other best practices which it contains have formed the basis of Police driver training for many years, making it a well known and respected reference book in advanced driving circles.
Not an example of good driving...

Our Gold standard covers all aspects of Advanced driving and includes an advanced driving test with either the IAM or RoSPA.  Whilst we cannot guarantee a test pass we expect to achieve a good outcome!

Our Silver * standard embodies all the key principles of the Advanced standard but leaves out some of the refinements, thus concentrating on the fundamental System of Car Control and the key safety elements. Drivers who show particular interest and aptitude are encourage to proceed to Advanced standard; made easier because the training follows the same basic principles.

*This is the standard generally required by Fleet operators to meet the HSE and insurers requirements  .

In addition to Roadcraft, there's a brilliant new book which falls into the 'must read' category for anyone serious about improving their driving' it's entitled 'Mind Driving' and written by Stephen Haley.  Subtitled 'new skills for staying alive on the road', it explains how expert drivers think, and provides a totally new approach to driving skills and improving road safety.  Highly recommended reading we think.
